Did you know?

Tapioca pearls are small, round balls made from tapioca, which is a product derived from the cassava root, originating from Brazil. The cassava plant found its way from South America to Asia in the late 18th century by European explorers and today, is one of the most important plants in Asian cuisine.

Despite the soft, gummy and chewy texture of the tapioca pearls, they are made completely with cassava and therefore are vegan! They are often used in bubble tea and other drinks and desserts as a topping.

The tapioca pearls are commonly seen in dark brown or black, color as a result of the brown sugar added to these ball beauties. Therefore, don't be surprise to see tapioca pearls in white, or other colors!
